Ideation Workshop (A Camp for “Special Seminar for Strategic Reasoning and Thinking”)
The “Graduate Course for System-inspired Leaders in Material Science (SiMS)” – which is a Program for Leading Graduate Schools jointly implemented by Osaka Prefecture University and Osaka City University – provides a training course for system thinking for kotozukuri (ability to look at complicated things from a panoramic view). As part of “Special Seminar for Strategic Reasoning and Thinking,” an ideation workshop was held at a conference room of Panasonic Resort Osaka for two days, on July 15 (Tues.) and 16 (Wed.), 2014.
In the workshop, presentations, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions were conducted in an enthusiastic and energetic manner. Nineteen students participated (excluding two students away on overseas business trip), plus the SiMS Program Director, SiMS Program Coordinator, six instructors in charge of the SiMS Program, two TEC (Technology-based Entrepreneurship Course) instructors, five SiMS Program mentors, and two Program staff members.
On the first day of the workshop, five groups of students individually presented an interim report on the Strategic System Thinking Training, on which they had spent a lot of time and energy (discussions and research) since April, and received feedback and comments, based on which they are going to prepare a final report.
On the second day, each student spoke about their enthusiasm and passion for the SiMS Program. After their speeches, thought-provoking lectures concerning system thinking for kotozukuri (value creation) and entrepreneurship were given by Dr. Takeshi Uenoyama, Fellow at Panasonic Corporation, and Mr. Masatoshi Go, President of TNP Partners Corporation. We believe that this two-day workshop served as an important step for students toward achieving their goals.
