Exchange Meeting with RUPP

The Royal University of Phnom Penh & SiMS Exchange (8/27)

Ten people from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), which has an academic exchange agreement with Osaka Prefecture University, visited from August 25 to 30, and deepened international exchange with the students/teaching staff of Osaka Prefecture University. The visit materialized from the adoption of the “Japan/Asia Youth Science Exchange Program” of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.

On August 27, they participated in the “System-inspired Experience Exercise,” and with e-commerce as the theme, they discussed the status and challenges of each of their countries. In the opening, Program Manager Tsuji looked back on the relationship between Osaka Prefecture University and RUPP, and spoke of the further development of the relationship in the future. Later, Professor Matsui and Specially-appointed Professor Fujita introduced the overview of the program, and questions regarding recruitment/selection methods were raised by RUPP participants.

In the experience exercise in the afternoon, after Specially-appointed Professor Sakai gave an explanation about the way of thinking of SiMS, students of both RUPP and SiMS introduced the current status of each of their countries regarding the theme of “e-commerce” in presentation form. Furthermore, factor analysis was conducted in the group discussion including both sides.

This international exchange was provided as part of a global communication exercise and was a good opportunity for SiMS students to feel what level of language skill is necessary to hold discussions with students of the same age abroad. Even with English being a foreign language for RUPP students, they were able to convey their ways of thinking clearly, and it was a major stimulation for the SiMS students.
